PRESTON WIRUTH TO LEAD SIDE FC 92 MEN'S TEAM

WSA Soccer is excited to announce the appointment of Preston Wiruth as the head coach of Side FC 92 Men's team, leading an internationally renowned staff, for the 2022 season. 

Joining Wiruth on Side FC 92's technical staff are two coaches with global footballing credentials in Mansour Ebrahimzadeh and Claudio Munoz.  The trio of coaches will lead a staff, team and a program which has already won three Conference Championships since the program's inception in 2019, and is returning from a narrow exit from the UPSL National Tournament in 2021. 

"I am thrilled to be leading The Side FC 92 Men's team.  In the program's prior seasons it has helped set the benchmark for excellence in its league, and I look forward to building on that," reported Wiruth. 

Coach Wiruth has been heavily involved in the WSA program the past decade serving as a WSA Soccer Staff Coach for '98 Boys, '00 Boys, '04 Boys, '05 Girls, '04 Girls, '08 Girls and 2012 Girls.  His teams have been highly succesful including: · 2x Red River NPL Champion, OPL Gold Champion, 2x US Club Nationals contender, 2x Super Y Nationals Qualifier, US Club Regionals Finalist, State Cup Finalist and 2x State Cup Champion.  

Wiruth recently resigned his position as an assistant for ORU Women's soccer, a position he'd held since 2014.  During Wiruth's time at ORU he was part of a program that regularly contended for championships, helping the program rebuild to a place as a league championship contender for the first time since 2004.  At ORU Wiruth was instrumental in the program's succcess on the field, which included finishing runners-up 3X and 3rd Place 1X during Wiruth's tenure.  

Wiruth who has succesfully built high achieving teams for nearly a decade at both club and college levels, will now take his turn in the semiprofessional arena.  Wiruth, who had a shortlived WSA playing career in his final year of club soccer with WSA 85, is excited to help build on a tradition rich and historic program at WSA Soccer.  


Coach Wiruth added, "At the youth level, the WSA boys teams have been competing for and winning national titles for several years.  This platform provides a vertical pathway for aspiring professionals within the club, and indeed for everyone in the broader Green Country soccer community who is looking to climb the professional ladder."

EBRAHIMZADEH & MUNOZ BRING WORLD FOOTBALLING EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Joining Wiruth's technical staff are two of Oklahoma's most experienced, qualified, and tenured coaches, who also bring a level of international football acclaim to The Side.  Coach Ebrahimzadeh and Coach Munoz both joined WSA Soccer in 2018, and bring experience and expertise creating a strong tecnical staff for Side FC 92. 

Coach Mansour famously has been ranked as a top-20 professional coach in the world twice (2010 and 2011) by the IFFHS.  He led Iranian club, Zob Ahan, to the Asian Champions League Runner-Up in 2010, and helped the club to Iranian League Runner-Up in 2009 and 2010.  Coach Mansour famously led the Iranian National Team to three draws in 2007, and further served as the Iranian National Team assistant coach under Coach Hejazi and Coach Clemente.  

Coach Mansour has served the past 4 years at WSA Soccer as a Senior Staff Coach, leading coaches, sessions, futsal training, and serving as a mentor coach for various teams including, WSA 09 Girls, WSA 08 Girls, WSA 07 Girls, WSA 06 Girls, WSA 05 Girls, and WSA 04 Girls.  He also works ocassionally with the WSA Boys program. 

Coach Munoz who arrived at WSA in 2018, has recently led the WSA 2005 Boys program to a National Finalist appearance (US Club) three Conference Championships in three successive seasons in the National Premier League.  He also has several tournament finalist and championships with the 2004 Boys Red team, as well as this past season joining the WSA Girls ECNL-RL staff with the 2006 Girls.  Coach Munoz also serves as WSA Soccer's Director of Soccer Development and International Exchange Program under WSA's P2P Program (Pathway To Pro). 

Munoz is a former captain for FC Tulsa (at time Tulsa Roughnecks) in the USL.  Prior to that Munoz played in the Primera Division of Chilean football for Universidad Catolica and Huachipato at various times from 2004 thru 2016 while amassing over 200 appearances in Chile's top professional league.  Coach Munoz has notably competed in the Copa Libertadores (Huachipato) and Copa Sudamericana with the Chilean National Team. 

The Side FC 92 technical staff will add further additions in the coming days, as well as naming additions to the front office and back office staffs for Side FC 92.  

STAFF BUILDS ROSTER FOR 2022 SEASON

The technical staff has announced various different opportunities to be evaluated for an opportunity to be offered a Side FC 92 spot for the 2022 season. 

  • TRIAL #1: Saturday, March 12 - hosted over 70 players 
  • TRIAL #2: Saturday, March 19 - 1:00 PM Case Community RC Parks #10 
  • TRIAL #3: TBA, Final Team Trial 
  • TRIAL #4: Friday thru Sunday April 29-May 1 - Combine, More info Coming Soon (for roster additions)

The club has set up various pathways into the full team.  Some players will be offered spots by scouting evaluations that take place in the players natural environment, playing with their current club or school team.  Other opportunities will be provided via "call-backs" to trials, or invited week long trials inside the team.  The season begins in April and the staff plans to have a large portion of the team roster finalized by the opening match, with minor additions and tweaks to the roster expected throughout the season as the team aims towards qualifying for post season play.
